Tambe balanced his day job and cricket at the same time during his initial years of struggle and found it challenging to make a cut in any domestic team. However, he kept trying and was eventually roped in by Rajasthan Royals (RR) scout ahead of the 2013 IPL.
Tambe grabbed headlines straight away after he made his IPL debut at the age of 41. In 2014, the leggie took a hattrick against KKR. He finished the season as the Royals’ highest wicket-taker with 15 scalps to his name and then plied his trade for teams like Gujarat Lions (GL) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) down the years.
In 2020, Tambe became the first In𓂃dian player to feature in Caribbean Pre💜mier League (CPL), representing Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) and winning the title.
