In the 10th match of the ongoing ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 between West Indies and India, the Mithali Raj-led side thrashed Windies by 155 runs on Saturday. With the scintillating victory, 𓃲India also ma🌳naged to climb the top spot in the points table.
Batting first, India posted 317/8 on the board in their allotted 50 overs, thanks to magnificent centuries by Smriti Manhana and Harmanpreet Kaur. After losing three wiꦕcketꦦs for 78, the pair of Smriti and Harmanpreet joined hands to take the team out of trouble.
The duo lit up the Seddon Park in Hamilton with explosive batting and ended up forming a dominating partnership of 184 runs for the fourth wicket – India’s best in World Cups. Mandhana smashed 123 off 119 balls with the help of 15 boundaries, including two sixes. Similarly, Harmanpreet scored 109 from 107 deliveries, including 10 fours and a couple of sixes.
For the Windies, Anisa Mohammed was their pick of the bowler. The experienced campa🃏igner bagged two wickets while conceding 59 runs in nine o𒊎vers.
In reply, West Indies started brilliantly with Deandra Dottin and Hayley Matthews, adding 100 runs for the opening wicket. Dotting scored a brilliant 62 off 46 balls before Sneh Rana dismis♛sed her to break the partnership. The dismissal of Dottin opened the floodgates as West Indies witnessed a sudden collapse.
From 100/1 at one stage, the Stafanie Taylor-led side got bundled out for just 162 in 40ಞ.3 overs, losing the contest by a massive margin of 155 runs. Rana demolished the Windies batting unit, picking up a three-wicket haul for𓆏 22 in 9.3 overs, including a maiden.
