Bangladesh scripted history on Friday after defeating South Africa by 38 runs in Centurion to register the🅰ir first-ever win in the 50-over format in theཧ rainbow nation.
Notab💫ly, the tourists had never won a One-Day International (ODI) in So🐼uth Africa in 19 previous attempts but produced a splendid performance in the first ODI of the ongoing three-match series to record a memorable triumph.
Further, Bangladesh’s spectacular victory also strengthened their place at the top of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League standings, going past England and India, who ha🎉ve now reached second and third place, respectivelyౠ.
Put in to bat first, the visitors posted a big total of 314/7 thanks to a brilliant batting display by opener Litton Das (50), star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan (77) and middle-order batter Yasir Ali (50), all sm෴ashing respective half-centuries to help the Tigers reach a commendab𓆉le score.
In reply, Shoriful Islam (2/47) and Taskin Ahmed (3/36) made the early inro💙ads, as the hosts lost early wickets to feel the heat.
Rassie van der Dussen (86) and David Miller (79) slammed impressive fifties to give Proteas some hope. But Mehidy Hasan Miraz ran through the tail with a four-for and bundled out South Africa f൲or 276, to win the contest by 38 runs.
“It is a big win for us. Special win. Starting from Liton, then Shakib and Yasir batted brilliantly. A six and a four from Miraz. Those quick 25 runs from Mahmudullah. It is a big thing for us. Our fast bowlers are winning games for us. Last two years, the fast bowlers are doing brilliantly. You need a character like Mehidy in every team. After going for 40 from 4 overs, he went up to me and asked to bowl. He said he will change the game. He was my Man of the Match. Definitely, we need to give ourselves the best chance. SA are a quality side. They would be eager to bounce back,” said captain Tamim after the match.

Bangladesh have created history at Supersport Park. It's their first victory in South Africa. Few days back they won a test match in New Zealand. Surely thses victories would boost their confidence.
