India batsman Suryakumar Yadav will miss the upcoming T20I s🌸eries against Sri Lanka at home because of injury. He picked up on-field injury duꦫring the third T20I against West Indies in Kolkata on Sunday.
Suryakumar, the Player of the series for the T20Is, was standing in the slips when he suffered a hairline fracture in his🧜 right hand during the second innings after scoring a 31-ball 65 ♉in the first essay.
With fast bowler Deepak Chahar already out of the squad du🌠e to hamstring injuryꩲ, India are now left with 16 players in their camp.
“Deepak sustained a right quadriceps injury during bowling while Suryakumar suffered a hairline fracture during a fielding attempt in the third and final T20I against the West Indies in Kolkata on Sunday,” the BCCI secretary J𝓀ay Shah said in an of🌸ficial statement.
“They will now head to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for further management of their injuries,” he added.
Talking about Suryakumar, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma said: “A big setback. He was in great form but there are so many guys waiting for an opportunity. At the same time, I am sad for Surya. A freak injury. You can’t control these things.”
The t🔯hree-match India versus Sri Lanka T20I series will begin on February 24.
