The mega-auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 is currently ꦕunderway in Bengaluru. While Shreyas Iyer has grabbed highlights with the costliest buy among the marquee players, IPL veteran Suresh Raina went unsold on Day 1 of the bidding process.
Raina, who is known as Mr IPL, had a base price of INR 2 crore, but he failed to draw a single bid during the auction proceedings. Notably, Raina is one of the biggest names in IPL history and has been the mainstay of the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) since the inception of the cash-rich league.
Raina has played 205 matches in the lucrative tournament, amassing 5,528 runs at an average of 32.52 and strike rate of 136.73. He was par𒁏t of team CSK ꦕduring their championship run in 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021.
