On the opening day of th🐠e first Test between New Zealand and Bangladesh at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui, Devon Conway grabbed all the limelight, thanks 🐟to his scintillating performance with the 💦willow.
Conway came to bat in the fourth over after the hosts lost captain Tom Latham (1) cheaply and went on to form a dominating stand with opener Will Young. The duo built a tremඣendous 138-𒉰runs partnership for the second wicket to power the Black Caps comeback.
The home team lost Young for 52 after meeting a run-out, but Conway continued his aggressor role and soon reached his second century in the longest format. Conway then stitched a 50-run stand with senior batter Ross Taylor (31), who is ওfeaturing in the penultimate Test of his career.
The left-handed batter looked quite settled and was approaching his second double-ton before falling to the part-time left-arm spin of Bangladesh skipper Mominul Haque. Conway scored 122 off 227 deliveries, with the help of ꦕ17 boundaries, including a six.
After Conway’s dismissal, Henry Nicholls and Tom Blundell formed a 31-run stand for the fifth wicket before Ebadot Hossain cleaned up Blundell on the last ball of the day. At stumps, New Zealand reached 25ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ8/5, with Nicho🍸lls unbeaten at 32.

Bangladesh end day one with a late Ebadot Hossain wicket, but it is New Zealand who will be the happier side after being put into bat at the Bay Ov𓄧al

It's remarkable how Devon Conway in his fourth Test is regarded as a veteran and the glue of the side.
Hardly a fair comparison but 🍨Ken Rutherford went into his fourth Test having🅠 scored six runs.
