Mayank Agarwal stamped his authority over the New Zealand bowling unit with a spectacular century on Day 1 of the ongoing second Test to put India in a commanding position. Mayank’s innings came at a very crucial time when wickets were falling continuously from the other end.

The Karnataka batter hit his fourth Test hundred and ended a two-year wait for a three-figure score in the longest format. Mayank got to his hundred off 196 balls as the right-handed batter stood tall against a quality spin attack by Ajaz Patel, who dismissed Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara for ducks.

Mayank reached the landmark in the 59th over when he slammed Daryl Mitchell for a superb boundary over the extra cover region. He jumped and punched the 🌸air as the Indian players and support staff was spotted applauding Mayank fo🐭r the incredible effort.

Mayank first formed a vital 80-run opening partnership with Shubman Gill, who fell six runs short of his half-century. Then, the Bangalore-lad joined hands with Shreyas Iyer to add ano🧔ther 80🍰-run stand for the fourth wicket.

At stumps, India reached 221/4 with Mayank (120 no) and Wriddhiman Saha (𓆏25 no) as the duo formed an unbe🧜aten stand of 61 runs.

For the visitors, only Patel looked good with the ball. The left-armer bowled exceptionally well on the bouncy track of Wankhede, taking all four wickets alone. Patel bowled 29 ovไers and picked up 4 wickets.
