Pakistan speedster Shaheen Afridi ripped apart Bangladesh top-order, taking three wickets and restricting the hosts at 39/4 before the end of the third day’s play of the ongoing first Test at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.

Afridi dismissed the top three Bangladesh batters – Shadman Islam (1), Saif Hassan (19), Najmul Hossain Shanto (0) – to reduce the home team at 15/3. Just 10 runs later💫, Bangladesh lost another wicket before the stump🦄s was announced as the hosts were 83 runs ahead.

Earlier, Pakistan started pretty well with Abid Ali, and Abdullah Shafique dominated the proceedings. The pair went on to add 146 runs for the opening wicket to put Pakistan in a commanding position in reply to Bangladesh’s 330.

As the tourists were looking to cruise through a massive score, Bangladesh pacer Taijul Islam sent shockwaves to the Pakistan unit with scintillating bowling. Taijul exhibited top-class bowling and p💧icked up a splendid seven-wicket haul to help his side restrict the visitors for 286.

Pakistan opener Abid Ali hit a tremendous century – his fourth in Tests – but the Babar Azam-led side lost 6 for 83 in the second session to concede a lead. Taijul picked up seven scalps in 44.4 overs with the help of nine maidens.
