Team India opener and limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma was quite active on social media platform Twitter on Sunday (August 02). The Mumbaikar had an interactive session with his fans and answered a barrage of questions thrown at hiꦡm.
Rohit, who was last seen in action for the Men in Blue during the fifth and final T20I against the Black Caps in early 2020, was asked to share his life’s biggest turning moment, mention few words for his ardent fans along with many other tricky questions. The 33-year-old, however, answered every query with the utmost composure.
India batsman Suresh Raina recently made some comments regarding Rohit being the next ‘MS Dhoni’ due to his credentials as a captain.
“I would say he is the next MS Dhoni for the Indian cricket team,” Raina said on The Super Over Podcast.
“I have seen him, he is calm, he likes to listen, he likes to give confidence to the players and on top of that, he likes to lead from the front. When the captain leads from the front and at the same time, he gives respect to the dressing room atmosphere, you know you have it all.”
During the Q/A session, Rohit was then asked about the comments made by Raina and how his captaincy differs from ꦺothers.
“Yes, I heard about that comment from Suresh Raina. MS Dhoni is one of a kind and nobody can be like him and I believe comparisons should not be made like that, every individual is different and has his strengths and weaknesses,” Rohit said in reply.
‘Hitman’ will be desperate to return back to the field after a long break amid coronavirus pandemic. He was set to take part in the IPL 2020, originally scheduled to be held from March 29. However, the COVID-19 outbreak pushed this year’s cash-rich tournament to September-November window, to be hosted in the UAE.
Thus, Rohit will be eager to lead the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) to their fifth title in this year’s IPL edition.
In the last year’s edition, MI came on top of Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by one run in the final to claim their fourth title – most by a side in the tournament history.
