A dazzling 156 from Shan Masood took Pakistan to 326 before bundling out in the final session on Day 2 of the first Test against England in Manchester. All-rounder Shadab Khan also played a critical 45-run knock. He added 105 runs with Masood for the sixth wicket. For the hosts, pace duo of Jofra Archer and Stuart Broad picked up three wickets each while all-rounder Chris W🍰oakes claimed two wickets.
However, when England came to bat, they wouldn’t have anticipated what was to follow as Pakistan pace attack sent shockwaves through English batting. It all started with Shaheen Afridi who drew the first blood when he dismissed Rory Burns (4) in the opening over of England’s first innings.

After Afridi, paceman Mohammad Abbas came into action and gave back-to-back blows to England. First, he sent Dominic Sibley (8) back to the pavilion and then in his next over, Abbas caught a big fish in form of Ben Stokes, who was cleaned up for ‘duck’.

Well, then English skipper Joe Root and middle-order batsman Ollie Pope tried to brin💧g the situation under control as the pair added a crucial 50-run stand. But just when the duo was looking settled to add more runs in their partnership, Pakistan spinner Yasir Shah dismissed Root for 14 runs.

Earlier, England started the second day with a big wicket of Babar Azam (69). Although, they couldn’t stop Masood to become the first Pakistan opener to score a Test century on England soil since Saeed Anwar in 1996.
