Former India captain MS Dhoni turned 39 on Tuesday 🦋(July 7). The Ranchi-born Dhoni, who is regarded as one of the most successful captains in the world, has been away from cricket for nearly a year, and yet conversations about his return, or future retirement have never died out.
Such is the stature of the man known by the moniker ‘Captain Cool’ that fans continue to wait with bated breath and hope that they would get to see Dhoni donning the Indian jersey at least one more time.
In his career as a captain, Dhoni led India to two World Cup titles – 2007 World T20 and 2011 ODI World Cup. As India sealed the Champions Trophy in 2013, Dhoni became the first captain to have won all three ICC tournaments.
Several members of the Indian cricket fraternity, including batting legend Sachin Tendulkar and the ‘Player of the tournament’ of 2011 World Cup, Yuvraj Singh, took to Twitter to wish Dhoni the best on his special day.
“Happy birthday @msdhoni! May God bless you with good health and happiness in life. Have a great year ahead,” tweeted Sachin.
