England are on the driving seat in the third and final Test of the ‘raise the bat’ series against West Indies in Manchester. After posting 359 in the first innings, the hosts performed outstandingly well in the bowling department. English bowlers led by Stuart Broad, who took a 6-fer, demolished the Wind🐻ies batting attack and restricted the visitors to 197.
The Jason Holder-led side was able to avoid the follow-on but couldn’t prevent from giving a freeby 172-run lead to England on Day 3 of the Old Trafford Test. As if the trouble was not enough for the tourists, Shane Dowrich, the wicket-keeper, got injured during the second session of play.
It all happened in the 8th over of England’s second innings bowled by Shannon Gabriel. The right-arm pacer bowled a short-pitch delivery to English opener Rory Burns, who left the ball easily. But Dowrich behind the wickets couldn’t gather the ball cleanly.
Initially, the ball hit Dowrich’s gloves and then deflected onto his face. It hit his upper lip which started bleeding straightaway.

Dowrich then walked off the field for medical attention and Shai Hope resumed duty behind the stumps. However, soon Windies called out Joshua Da Silva as the replacement player for the injured Shane Dowrich. According to the latest rules, Da Silva can act as a replacement, but he will not be allowed to bat in the West Indies second innin🎶gs.
