The England and West Indies are playing the first Test of the 🍸three-match series which began on Wednesday (July 08) at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton. English batsmen began Day 2 with an overnight score of 37/1.
However, Day 2 didn’t bring good news for England as they started terribly. Top-order batsman Joe Denly and opener Rory Burns were sent back to the pavilion by Shannon Gabriel in consecutive overs.
Before England batters could even the loss, We🔯st Indies captain Jason Holder took two wickets in the form of Zak Crawley and Ollie Pope, making the hosts struggling at 87/5. However, then Stokes along with Jos Buttler rescued the team by adding a crucial 67-run stand. But Holder yet again did the damage and broke the set partnership by getting Stok♔es caught out behind the wickets.
Holder bowle𒊎d a good length delivery which came in from the angle and then nipped away at the last moment making Stokes shuffle across the crease. It found the outside edge and West Indies wicket-keeper Shane Dowrich did the rest.

Holder carried on the momentum and dismissed Buttler with an🎉other lovely delivery. The Caribbean skipper bowled from wide of the crease, and the ball angled back into the right-hander – caught the outside edge and flew behind. Dowrich made an acrobatic effort to take a one hand stunner.
The West Indies captain then picked up wickets of Jofra Archer and Mark Wood, completing a six-wicket haul performance. Holder bowled 20 overs in the innings and ﷺgrabbed 6 wickets at an economy of 2.10. This is also the best figures by a💜 West Indies captain in England.
Gabriel took the last wicket of England’s innings in the form of James Anderson and finished with 4 wickets in 15.3 overs.
For England, Stokes with 43ꦐ, Buttler with 35 and Burns with 30 were the highest individual scorers. Overall, England could only make 204 runs in their first innings.
