England fast-bowler Jofra Archer has been ruled out from the second Test of a three-match series against West Indies aft꧒er breach🗹ing the bio-secure protocols in Manchester.
The pacer would be spending the next five days in self-isolation and undergo two COVID-19 tests to be assured that he hasn’t contracted the virus.
An ECB spokesperson revealed that Archer’s breach came while travelling from the Ageas Bowl to Old Trafford after the latter decided to visit his flat, thus contradicting the safety measures.
With 1-0 down and the series hanging ♊on a wire, England will undoubtedly miss the service ofℱ their most potent bowler.
The pacer apologised for his irresponsible behaviour💛, admitting that his actions have put the whole team in jeopardy.
“I am extremely sorry for what I have done,” said Archer.
“I have put, not only myself, but the whole team and management in danger. I fully accept the consequences of my actions, and I want to sincerely apologise to everyone in the biosecure bubble,” added the 25-years-old.
“It deeply pains me to be missing the Test match, especially with the series poised. I feel like I have let both teams down, and again I am sorry.”
Former England captain Nasser Hussain too expressed his disappointment over Archer’s recklessness and said that the speedster had made a mistake.
“We don’t know if it was just a naivety from Jofra or if it was something more serious. He has apologised, it is a very unusual situation that we all find ourselves in and he’s made a mistake,” Hussain said on Sky Sports News.
Meanwhile, West Indies have🍌 won the toss and elected to bowl first in the second #raisethebat Test in Manchester. Chris Woakes has replaced Archer in the playing XI.
