When it comes to captaincy, Virat Kohli se꧒t his template💝 in the very first outing at international level.
Six years ago, India had to chase down a total of 362 in the fourth innꦫings of the Adelaide Test match during their 2014 tour of Austra🌜lia.
Kohli, captaining in his first Test match, registered a brilliant ton in the first innings, scoring 115. Coming out to bat for the second time, Kohli displayed positive intent to chase down the total on the final day of 🧔the Test match.
Thereby, the young captain scored one of the finest knocks in Test cricket (141), albeit in a losing cau🀅se, as India fell short ♍by just 48 runs.
Moreover, it was the intent shown by the skipper which was heartening to witness. From there on, Kohli has endorsed an aggressive and positive bran💮d of cricket, going for the win at all cost.
“I would not co🌠mpromise on wanting a result in any situation, drawing a game for me should be the last option,” Kohli told Mayank Agarwal on ‘Open Nets wit🐓h Mayank’ show.
“Say we need 300 on the last day and opposition gives you that target. I would say to the guys let’s go for it. It’s 100 runs in a session and even if you lose a couple of wickets and score 80 ꧋in the first session we can make up for it by scoring 120 runs in the final session,” he added.
“Draw comes to me only and only if the situation has gone too bad or in t🍃he last hour if we don’t have any option,” the 31-year-old re🌞ckoned.
“Fearing a loss is the most negative thing you can think of and it causes self-harm as well as causes harm to your own mindset. Turning a game around are꧟ the moments that can make a person feel wow. My aim is to make people realize how good they can be,” Kohli concluded.
