The decision on the upcoming 2💯020 ICC T20 World Cup in Australia remained deferredꦅ after meeting on Wednesday.
The high-octane multilateral tournament was scheduled to take place betweeꦍn October anღd November, later this year.
The members of the International Cricket Council (ICC) met via video conference and looked at various permutations and combinations regarding the conduct oꦜf the T20 showpiece event.
However, the priority for the apex council members remains with the safety of the players amidst a dynami☂c pandemic situation.
A call is now expected to be made next mon𒀰th for the T20 World Cup in Australia and the Women’s World Cu♛p scheduled next year.
There is a high pr♔obability of the coveted event being cancelled, looking at the major upcoming events in 2021.
The latest releasꦑe of ICC infers about the cricketing body is closely monitoring the ever-changing situation in tandem with governments and health officials to work out a decision.
“This contingency plann𒅌ing process will evaluate health and safety, cricket, partner and host considerations ensuring any decision taken is in the best interests of the sport, its members and fa🔥ns,” ICC’s statement read.
“The situation surrounding the global pandemic is evolving rapidly and we want to give ourselves the best possible opportunity to make the right decision for the whole sport. The health and well-being of everyone involved is our priority and oth♔er considerat🤡ions fall out from that,” ICC’s Chief Executive, Manu Sawhney stated.
“We will only get one chance t𝕴o m⛎ake this decision and it needs to be the right one and as such we will continue to consult with our members, broadcasters, partners, governments and players and to ensure that we make a well-informed decision,” added the administrator.
The governing body also looked at the long-standing tax exemption issue impending with BCCI. ICC agreed to extend the deadline on the d𝕴ecision until December 2020.
