Afghanistan star Rashid Khan’s mother passed away on Thursday evening due to prolonged illness. Rashid paid a heartfelt tribute to his late mother Rashid Jana on Twitter.
“You were my home my mother I had no home but you. I can’t believe you are no more with me you will be missed forever. Rest In Peace,” tweeted Rashid.

W❀ith the world already reeling under the coronavirus pandemic, this comes as a pieceඣ of shattering news for the 21-year-old cricketer.

Rashid, who known for his versatility as a leg-spinner, has been troubling batsmen in the Indian Premier League (IPL) since making his debut in the 2017 edition for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He has plied his trade across several T20 leagues around the world and is considered as oꦉne of the best spinners in the shortest format of the game.
Rashid was named the captain of the Afghanistan team in limited-overs formats last year after the 2019 World Cup. However, he was replaced later by Asghar Afghan. Rashid has so far played 4 Tests, 71 ODIs and♏ 48 T20Is in his international career, picking up 23, 133 and 89 wickets in the three formats, respectively.
Rashid Khan had lost his father in January 2019
A year back in January 2019, Rashid lost his father. During that time, he was playing for Adelaide Strikers in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL). Even though he was broken to bits, he continued to play and went onto feature against Brisbane Heat the next day.
Rashid opened his heart out about the incident during an interview. He expressed the struggle his father endured to raise the family, a🐎long with the immense support he showed. Even then, he kept himself strong and believed that life needs to move on.
“It happens. It’s life. In this situation, my family has really supported me. Especially my mum, my brothers, my nephews. They were encouraging me a lot from back home.”
