Sister f🧸ranchise of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Tr❀inbago Knight Riders (TKR), has retained eight West Indies’ players from the previous edition.
Key names in their squad are skipper Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Dar𒅌ren Bravo and Sunil Narine, who also features for the KKR side.
Lendl Simmons, Khary Pierre, Tion Webster and Akealಞ Hossain, are the other names retained, eyeing the vision to boost the local Trinidad and Tobago talen♉t.
“Over the last 5 years, TKR has built the franchise by consciously bringing back players from Trinidad & Tobago and also developing local talent. We are delighted that all ten of our Caribbean players in the TKR squad for 2020 are from Trinidad & Tobago,” CEO of Knight Riders, Venky Mysore stated, according to IANS.
However, veteran Dinesh Ramdin was released by t🍌he franchise and transferred to St. Kitts and Nevis Pat𓄧riots (SNP).
The Patriots have retained West Indies’ internationals Evin Lewin and Fabian Allen. At the same time, fast bowler Ryaad Emrit was appointed as 💝captain, ahead of Carlos Brathwaite who led the side in the last season.
“I am very excited to be part of St Kitts & Nevis Patriots for a second season. I think that the team that is selected this year is going to be a very exciting one,” said Emrit.
“I am very excited to be named as captain. It’s always an honour and a privilege to lead a franchise. Our new coach, Simon Helmot, knows the CPL and he knows how to win titles. He and I are going to work very hard to get the team to the finals,” he added.
The 2020 edition of CPL is scheduled to commence from August 19. However, a decision will be𒉰 taken looking at the COVID-19 scenario in the Caribbeaওn islands.
