Sri Lankan pacer, Shehan Madushanka, who made headlines by picked up an ODI hat-trick on his internat𓆏ional debut, has been detained by Sri Lanka Police on a charge of possession of heroin.
As per news agency AFP, Madushanka has been sent tཧo two-week police remand by a local magistrate. He was detained from Sri Lanka💝n town of Pannala where he was driving a car with another person despite a lockdown in the country.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is planning to suspend the contract of Madushanka after he was cau💦ght with two grams of heroin.
SLC CEO Ashley de Silva said, “We have not been officially informed on this yet. He is a contracted player. We will take action to suspend his contract if he carries a drug charge.”
Madushanka’s arrest was the first time a contracted player has been remanded over a drug charge. The magistrate at Kuliyapitiya in the north-western province ordered him to be remanded till June 2.
The 25-year-old broke into the international scen🌟e in early 2018 with a hat-trick on debut against Banglade🧸sh in the fourth ODI of a five-match series, making him the fourth player in one-day history to achieve the feat.
His international appearances have been limited to his debu💃t ODI and two T20 internationals, all against Bangladesh.
