West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell has slammed Caribbean Premier League (CPL) franchise Jamaica Tallawahs, tagging it as the ‘weirdest’ team he has represented.
Also, Russell announced that the 2020 edition in the CPL would🌠 be his last, donning the colours of the Tallawahs.
“This year was way different. This is the weirdest franchise that I have ever played in. And when I mean weird, people that are supposed to reach out to you as an individual, and I am not just a normal player in the Jamaica Tallawahs team,” Russell told Cricbuzz on an Instagram Live Session.
Russell, who celebrated his birthday on Wed💧nesday (April 29), spilt beans regarding the fr🦹anchise not paying heed to his inputs, as a former skipper.
“I was once a leader. I realise how they look at things and how they do things. I felt like a first-class player that just made his debut one game ago. Your opinion is not valuable. That’s how I was treated.
Also, the franchise owner did not offer consultation from Russell regarding recruitments and retention of players.
“Even when I ask questions: who you guys planning on retaining? Who you are guys planning on buying? I don’t get any answer on that. So, I just leave it, he added. I think this might be my last season for Jamaica Tallawahs. I’m just clearing the air,” continued the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) marquee all-rounder.
It was only recently that former Tallawah, Chris Gayle, accused his ex-teammate Ramnaresh Sarwan for creating a wedge between him and the franchise. Gayle went ahead and called Sarwan ‘worse than coronavirus;.
Later on, the Universe Boss was picked by St. Lucia Zouks and branded as their marquee player for the 2020 edi🦄tion of the league.
“Sarwan, you are worse than the coronavirus right now. What transpired with the Tallawahs, you have a big part to play because you and the owner are like this (very close),” said Gayle on his YouTube Channel.
