Yuvraj Singh releases statement after facing backlash over support to Shahid Afridi Foundation

Former Indian cricketer, Yuvraj Singh on Wednesday, broke the silence after netizens slammed him for urging his fans and followers to contribute to Shahid Afridi Foundation, in order to𒁃 battle against the COVID-19 pandemic in Pakistan.

The 38-year-old took to Twitter and stated that his intention was to help people in the respective countries by providing healthcare. Yuvraj also added that he did not mean to hurt anyone’s feelings.

“I really don’t understand how a message to help the most vulnerable gets blown out of proportion. All I tried to achieve via that message was to help people in our respective countries by providing healthcare; my intention was not to hurt anyone’s feelings. I am an Indian, and I will always bleed blue and will always stand for humanity. Jai Hind” wrote Yuvraj in a statement.

Earlier, Yuvraj’s decision to donate came after off-spinner Harbhajan Singh had requested his fans to make donations to Afridi’s foundation.

On Tuesday, Yuvi said that amid such testing times, people should be looking out for each othe🐼r, especially the ones who ar🐽e less fortunate.

As soon as Yuvraj tweeted this, fans in large numberꦬs criticised the 2011 World Cup hero for supporting Afridi who is known for posting bad things about India.
