Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Suresh Raina came together to join in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s request to turn off lights and instead lit diyas and candles for nine minutes at 9 PM on Sunday to show solidarity in the fight against the coronavirus outbreak.
In his address to the nation on April 3, PM Modi had urged the citizens of India to comes together and join the #9pm9minute initiative, which was an act to illuminate the common purpose we are 🍸all fighting for, referring to the COVID-19 pandemic that has wreaked havoc across the world.
Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and many other cricket stars also took to their social media handles to show the nation’s collective resolve to fight the deadly virus.
My family & I thank the selfless cleaning our surroundings & hospitals, disinfecting affected areas & thus keeping the virus at bay. Let’s also reignite our pledge to take care of our elders, the most vulnerable – by ensuring their physical & mental wellness.
