At the international stage, very few get the chanc🌼e to rub shoulders with two of the best in the business – Virat Kohli aꦰnd Rohit Sharma.
The two have excelled in all facets of the game over the years. New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson is one of the𒈔 few lucky ones who managed to witness the two masters of the trade from close quarters.
Anderson enjoyed a successful stint at Mumbai Indians under the leadership of Rohit, while he could not replicate his performan𓃲ces at Royal Challengers Bangalore under Virat.
“In IPL, you are playing with Indian and international players who are rockstars. It’s a different environment, players and coaches every time. Mumbai probably has a bigger place in my heart as I have spent most of my time there. Even Delhi [Daredevils] and RCB were fantastic,” Anderson told Sportstar.
Not many know that the likes of Anderson, Tim Southee, Trent Boult, and Kane Williamson also belong to the same U19 class of 2008, along with Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja.
“To play against someone like Kohli from the U19 World Cup [in 2008] to all of a sudden taking the field with him for RCB [in 2018] is quite a surreal feeling” recalled Anderson.
Further, the out of favour Kiwi all-rounder tagged both Rohit and Virat as ‘natural born leaders’. Virat, along with RCB, leads the Indian team in all formats of the game. Whereas, Rohit has four IPL titles with Mumbai Indians, along with several prominent T20I series wins.
“But they both take charge of the team. They are natural-born leaders. They are also the best batters. Sharma is one of my favourite players to watch when he is in full flow. He makes cricket look like the easiest game in the world. The top guys in the world do that,” concluded Anderson.
