After a wait oౠf seven long years, four convicts in the 2012🃏 Nirbhaya rape case were hanged till death at the Tihar Jail at 5:30 AM on Friday (March 20) in Delhi.
Four men – Mukesh Singh (32), Pawan Gupta (25), Vinay Sharma (26), and Akshay Kumar Singh (31), were accused in the ghastly gang rape and murder of a physiotherapy intern, in a moving bus at the national capital.
After seven years of trial and r🧜ejections of several mercy petitions filed by the four rapists, they were finally hangeಞd.
Team India’s opener Shikhar Dhawan hailed the hanging and said that Nirbhaya could rest in peace now.
Dhawan took to Twitter and said: “Justice prevailed. RIP Nirbhaya #NirbhayaVerdict.”

Indian women’s team all-rounder Veda Krishnamurthy also expressed her thoughts. She called it a historic day for India. The right-arm spinner also added that justice has been served in the end.
She wrote, “Historic Day for India. Justice has prevailed.”

As per reports, the heinous crime took place in Delhi on December 16, 2012, when Nirbhaya was subjected to unthinkable brutality.
