Left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadk𓆉at etched his name in history books after he claimed a 7-wicket haul in the semi-final game of the ongoing ꦑRanji Trophy against Gujarat on Wednesday. He has 65 wickets in the tournament so far, and thus Unadkat broke a 21-year-old record for most wickets by a fast bowler in a single Ranji Trophy season.
Karnataka’s Dodda Ganesh previously held this special record in the 1998-99 season when he took 62 wickets.

When it comes to the overall record, Unadkat also surpassed Bishan Singh Bedi (64 wickets) and is currently just three wickets away from claiming the top s🐲pot which is held by Bihar spinner Ashutosh 🍃Amanm who had taken 68 wickets in the 2018-19 edition of the elite competition.
It was Unadkat’s seventh 5-wicket haul in Ranji Trophy. The 28-year-old is only the third pacer after Laxmipathy Balaji and Aniket Choudhary to take seven 5-wicket hauls in a Ranji Trophy season.
Unadkat’s brilliant spell helped his team to beat Gujarat and qualify for the finals where they will meet Bengal. This is the second successive final for Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy. Last year they faced Vidarbha in the finals but lost the game by 78 runs.
