West Indies star cricketer, Darren Sammy on Sunday, said that he is “truly honored” to be given Pakistan’s civilian award and thanked the country for showering love on him.

A day after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that Sammy – one of the first foreign superstars to agree to come and play cricket in Pakistan, would be conferred with the civilian award by President Arif Alvi on March 23 – would be conferred with the award, Peshawar Zalmi captain in the PSL reacted to the development on Twitter.

“I am truly honored to be given this civilian award. We took a small step in the right direction in 2017 and look at us here today. All the foreign players played their part. Thank u Pakistan for the love shown to us. We only want U to experience cricket at home.#LOVEWINS.” Sammy stated.

Sammy, who has appeared in the PSL since its inception, played an essential role in helping the PCB bring back international cricket to Pakistan. In 2017, he agreed to come to Lahore and🦩 play in the PSL final after the majority of the foreign players declined to play in the country due to security concerns.
