Vidarbha veteran opener, Wasim Jaffer, added another feather to his cap as he becomes the only player in the history of Ranji cricket to amass as many as 12,000 career runs. The old warhorse of domestic cricket achieved this monumental feat in the ongoing Ranji Trophy ma🃏tch between Vidarbha and Kerala.
The 41-year old Jaffer started the season with 11,775 runs and now has p🧸layed tඣhe most number of matches in the premier domestic competition of the country. Jaffer, recently, made his 150th appearance in the Ranji Trophy.
The Mumbai batter, starting his career way back i🌺n the 1996-97 season, is the holder of several prestigious records. In 2018, he became the only player to surpass the 11k runs mark. Also, the right-hander has 40 tons to his name in the domestic circuit.
Unfortunately, his glorious domestic record could not translate it into international success. In the presence of a star-studded Indian batting lineup, Jaffer found it difficult to garner opportunities to display his potential. Further, his career coincided with th🦋e age of surging T20 cricket, where the traditional form of batting seemed obsolete.
Despite limited opportunities, Jaffer has two double centuries to his name ဣat the international Jaffer is best known for his marathon knock of 212 against West Indies and 202 against Pakistan. Kings XI Punjab, this season, offered him the role of batting coach. Although, there is no official confirmation of this move.
