India defeated New Zealand by seven runs in the fifth and last T20I at Bay Oval on Sunday. It was yet another challenging game between the two sides as the result was decided in the final over after India won the previous two matches in the Super Over. India whitewashed the hosts New Zealand 5-0 and became the first team to achieve this feat i💝n T20Is.
Though India won the game with a great combined effort, it was a forgetful day for all-rounder Shivam Dube. He was taken to the cleaners by New Zealand batsmen Ross Taylor and Tim Seifert during the Kiwis’ 164-run chase. Dube conceded 34 runs off his first over in the day to bowl the most expensive over by an Indian in the history of T20I cricket.
England pacer Stuart Broad holds the record for the most expensive T20I over for conceding 36 runs against India ꦛin the 2007 T20 World Cup when Yuvraj Singh had smashed him for six sixes.
Seifert started the proceedings by smashing Dube for two sixes and a four before taking a single on the third ball. The M🌳umbaikar then bowled a no-ball which was 🐭dispatched for a boundary by Taylor. The veteran New Zealand batsman then hit the last two balls for sixes to collect 34 runs off the over.
Later, ICC on Instagram asked the fans to name the bowler wh🐲o conceded most🐎 runs in an over.
“6, 6, 4, 1, 4nb, 6, 6 = 34 runs. Shivam Dube bowled the second-most expensive over in T20I history today! Do you remember the first?” ICC captioned their post.
While fans were replying to the post, Broad also decided to have some fun. He came up with a cheeky reply to the question. The England seamer, who conceded 36 runs in an over against India in 2007, wrote “Nope” followed by an emoji while replying to the ICC’s question.
