New Zealand’s middle-order batsman Ross Taylor is set to reach a milestone when he comes to the field against India on Friday (Feb 21) at Basin Reserve in Wellington. It will be Taylor’s 100th match of his Test career. He will join the likes of Brendon McCullum, Stephen Fleming and Daniel Vettori who have played 101, 111, and 112 games, respectively.

The duo of McCullum and Vettori wished their compatriot🌊 for reaching close to achieving an incredible landmark.

Taylor revealed McCullum’s message during the pre-match press conference. The only triple centurion for Black Caps said he wants Taylor to do better than what he did.

“I just got a call from Brendon before we got here saying ‘all the best,’ he said, do better than he did. I don’t know what he did in his game; I asked if there was any tips on how to deal with tickets,” Taylor said.

McCullum was referring to his 100th Test, which was played at the same venue against Australia, where thꦇe 38-year-old scored 0, and 10 and New Zealand lost the game by an innings and 52 runs.

“I also got a call from Vettori. It’s obviously a special club to join, and it’s nice to hear from fellow players who have been there,” added Taylor.

In red-ball cricket, Taylor is the highest run-scorer for New Zealand.♕ He♈ has smashed 7174 runs in 99 games. Taylor recently surpassed former skipper Fleming who had scored 7172 runs in Test cricket.
