India cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar being lifted on the shoulders of his teammates after their World Cup🧔 (WC) triumph at home in 2011 was voted the best sporting moment in the last 20 years at Laureus World Sports Awards held in Berlin on Monday.

The Laureus World Sports Awards is an annual award ceremo🌳ny honoring individuals and teams from the world of sports along with sporting achievements throughout the year. It was established in 1999 by Sport for Good Foundation founding patrons Daimler and Richemont.

“It is incredible. The feeling of winning the World Cup was beyond what words can express. How many times [can] you get an event happening where there are no mixed opinions? Very rarely, the entire country celebrates,” Tendulkar said. “And this is a reminder of how powerful a sport is, and what magic it does to our lives. Even now, when I watch that, it has stayed with me,” said Tendulkar after receiving the award.
