Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had a watershed𒁏 moment in his international career, during the recently con🌌cluded U19 World Cup in South Africa, continued his purple patch in the ongoing CK Nayudu Trophy.
Representing Mumbai U23, Jaiswal smash👍ed 185 against Puducherry at Wankhede Stadium. ﷽His knock was laced with as many as 19 boundaries and a couple of maximumṣ.
Despite his mammoth knock, Jaiswal remained hungry for more, claiming to miss out on his double-ton. “I’m not fully satisfied because I know I could have done better. I should have scored a double hundred. I was aiming for 200 and playing sensibly, but one bad shot did me in,” Jaiswal told Mid-Day.
Mumbai ended up with a monumental 449-5, with the help of Jaiswal’s mega-ton and contributions from Hardik Tamore (86) and Sarfaraz Khan (60*).
Later on, the top scorer and player of the tournam𝔍ent in the U19 World Cup credited the pep talk from the Mumbai selectors for hi🔯s success.
“Mumbai selectors—Milind Rege sir and Sanjay Patil sir—spoke to me before the match. They reminded me that I was playing for Mumbai and that it was a proud moment as well as a huge opportunity to shoulder responsibility. Their words were very encouraging and I’m glad I lived up to their expectations,” continued the 18-year-old.
The southpaw has only featured in white-ball cricket off late and resumed batting against red-ball after a while.
Jai🌜swal, who will don the pink of Raja♋sthan Royals in the upcoming IPL edition, talked about the transitions needed for the switch in formats.
“There are differences in the field settings too in both [red and white ball] formats. If a bowler is bowling well, he gets a longer spell here so you have to play him with a lot of patience. As I knew that I was playing red-ball cricket after a long time, I practiced a lot, batting for long periods in the nets,” concluded Jaiswal.
