Sydney’s forecast of wet weather has forced Cricket Australia to reschedule the Bushfire Cricket Bash Charity match at Melbourne on Sunday (Feb 09).
Shane Warne, who was supposed to be a captain of one team, won’t play due to prior commitments, and in his absence, Adam Gilchrist has taken over the responsibility.
Ricky Ponting will remain the skipper of another team. The rescheduling of the game also means that former Australia captain Michael Clarke and batsman Michael Hussey, along with a number of the female stars, can’t feature because of their commitments.
In the meantime, Ponting has expressed his desire to take Brian Lara in his playing eleven for the epic clash in Melbourne. The 45-yearജ-old also wants the West Indies legend to bat at four, while he will bat at three. Ponting uploaded a video on Twitter where both can be seen, practicing hard in the nets.

India legend Sachin Tendulkar will be a coach of the Ponting XI. Windies legend Courtney Walsh first agreed to train Warne’s XI, but he will now play in the team. So now, Australia Test captain Tim Paine has been called to coach the Gilchrist XI.
