Former Australia cricketer Shane Warne, who auctioned his ‘baggy green’ cap for the Bushfire victims, has been sold to a record one million Australian dollars. The legendary spinner wore the cap throughout his career.
As soon as Warne announced his decision to auction the ‘baggy green’, the bidding war took to 🎶a flyer with bids reaching $275,000 in just two hours. Fina𝐆lly, it was sold at A$1,007,500.
Commonwealth Bank revealed that they bought Warne’s cap for the whopping price. The bank will take the ‘baggy green’ cap on a national tour to raise additional funds for affected communities before it becomes a permanent exhibit at the Bradman Museum in Bowral, New South Wales.
The leg-spinner took to Twitter to𒁃 gratitude all the bidders who participated in the noble cause.
“Thank you so much to everyone that placed a bid & a huge Thankyou / congrats to the successful bidder – you have blown me away with your generosity and this was way beyond my expectations ! The money will go direct to the Red Cross bushfire appeal. Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou,” tweeted Warne.

Warne’s cap also became the most valuable memorabilia in history, surpassing Don Bradman’s ‘baggy green’ cap worn by him in his last Test and MS Dhoni’s bat from the 2011 World Cup final.
