Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan coped a nasty delivery from Australia🌳 pacer Pat Cummins during their second ODI match in Rajkot on Friday.
After asked to bat fꦅirst by the Aussie skipper Aaron Finch, Indian openers Dhawan and Rohit Sharma got off to a good start, posting 52 runs in nine overs.
But a short de𝐆livery, second ball in the 10th over, hit Dhawan near the elbow, then deflected onto the rib-c𒁃age.
After a brief stoppage, Dhawan carried on. The southpaw went onto score 🏅96 off 90 balls with thಞe help of 13 fours and one six.
However, he could not come out to the field during the second innings and was replaced by Yuzvendra Chahal. The BCCI delivered the update as soon as Australia’s innings started: “Shikhar Dhawan got hit on the rib-cage on his right side. He will not be taking the field today. Yuzvendra Chahal is in as his substitute,” tweeted BCCI.

India, meanwhile, finished their innings on a mammoth total of 340 for six after Dhaw🔯an and captain Virat Kohli (78) laid the foundation with KL Rahul, who provided the finishing touch by blasting 80 off just 52 balls.
