IND vs AUS: Here’s why Shikhar Dhawan didn’t open the innings for India in Bengaluru

Opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan, who top-scored for India in the second ODI against A🐻ustralia in Rajkot, hurt his left shoulder during the third ODI in Bengaluru on Sunday.

Dhawan dived to save an Aaron Finch shot in the cover region before hurting himself in ꩵthe fifth over. The physio attended him quickly and took him off the f🌸ield only to not come back. Later it was revealed that Dhawan was sent to the hospital for the scans.

Moreover, the southpaw was seen wearing the arm sling support in the dressing room and will not be batting for India in the second innings. Dhawan’s injury will be a big blow for the Men in Blue as they are a batsman short now and have to chase 287 runs to win the series decider.

Steve Smith scored an ODI century after three years

After Dhawan walked off the field, it was all about Steve Smith for Australia. He maneuvered the ball right through the innings and stitched crucial partnerships first with Marnus Labuschagne and then with Alex Carey to keep his team in the game. The former Aussie skippe﷽r reached his ninth ODI ton in the process and went on to score 131 runs off 132 balls with 14 fo♎urs and a six.

His effort and a maiden half-century from Marnus Labuschagne (54) helped Australia post 286 runs🐎 on the board.
