Former India opener Virender Sehwag, on Wednesday, hailed Rohit Sharma for his superlative knock in the Super Over, which helped the Men in Blue past the Black Caps and too🍨k an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match T🌞20I series.
The match was tied after India pacer Mohammed Shami came up with a classic last over just when🍸 it looked like Kane Williamson would take his side home with a batting master-class.
Rohit had earlier hit 65 to help India post 179/5, which was matched by New Zealand, mainly due to their captain Williamson’s brilliant 95.
Kane followed it up with an unbeaten 11 in the Super Over (bowled by Jasprit Bumrah), but it just wasn’t enough as Rohit and KL Rahul (5 not out) took Tim Southee to the cleaners.
Yaadgaar hai yeh jeet: Sehwag
“Aisa lagta hai apunich Bhagwan hai! So fit for #RohitSharma the way he has made impossible tasks possible. But defending 2 runs of 4 balls was an unbelievable effort from Shami. Yaadgaar hai yeh jeet #NZvIND,” tweeted Sehwag after Rohit hit a brilliant unbeaten 15 (including two sixes) in the Super Over as India chased down New Zealand’s score of 17 to win the third T20I at Seddon Park.
