Former India captain and perhaps the most successful✤ white-ball leader in the history of cricket, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has spoken about his incredible journey.
The 38-year has achieved everything that a captain of this 🦹game wishes 🅰for.
From winning the 2007 World T20 with an inexperienced young side to ending the drought of 28 years after clinching the 50-over World Cup at home, Dhoni has been a prime member of the most beautiful memories that Indian cricket fans 🌳༒have.
He is the only captain to win each of the three ICC trophies – ICC WT20, 50-over World Cup and Champions Trophy in the world.
Ever since India’s exit from the 2019 World Cup, fans haven’t seen the veteran wicket-keeper donning the Indian jersey. That has resulted in the speculations over his retirement.
However, there hasn’t been any confirmation on the retirement from either Dhoni or the team management. So, there are hopes alive among his fans that MSD will make a comeback.
In t🐲he meantime, Dhoni has appeared in several public functions, and recently he was seen sharing the memorable experiences of his journey in a YouTube video posted by MyGoodTimes.
The former skipper spill beans on the reception that his side received in Mumbai after winning the first-ever T20 world cup held in South Africa❀.
“There are few instances in life. I won’t say it was the World Cup. It was related to the World Cup. One was when after the 2007 T20 world cup when we came back, and we were on marine drive. From the airport till Wankhede Stadium, we were supposed to go on a double-decker open bus.
And, right in the middle, the bus is standing, and you could see loads of people on either side of the road, out of their car, there was no one on the driving seat; everybody was out with their mobile phones, and they had a big smile on their face. You don’t even know how many people would have missed their flight, but the kind of smile they had on their faces at that point on time and Marine Drive, you can see the full road, and it was filled with people,” Dhoni said.
Apart from the ultimate reception, Dhoni also shared the memories of the 2011 World Cup final, especially the closing stages when the whole Wankhede crowd was singing ‘Vande Matram’.
“The second was during the 2011 World Cup final. It was only 10-15 runs needed and the crowd started chanting Vande Matram. And, I believe that was something! I don’t get goosebumps, but that moment, I don’t think I would ever be able to get into a similar atmosphere,” added Dhoni.
“There was something beautiful about it and when they started to chant, let’s say it was moving from one side of the stadium to the other. Again, it was a moment that I would never forget in life. If I ever get a chance to relive it, definitely I would love to, but that’s not really in my control,” he concluded.
