With Kolkata gearing up to host the auction on December 19, CSK is expected to rope in some high-profile, potential and experienced players. Meanwhile, th﷽e franchise has also released five of its players.
The Super Kings will go into the auction with over Rs 12𒊎 crores in their kitty.
Dad’s army
CSK is being referred to as Dad’s Army, due to the average age of the team. Not many gave them much of a chance in 2018 after the team came back following a two-year suspension. But Dhoni’s men soared above the expectations and went on to win the championship for the third time.
They beat the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the final at the Wankhede Stadium. Even in 2019, CSK made their way through to the final against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Hyderabad. Unfortunately, they couldn’t win their fourth title, losing by a mere one run despite Shane Watson’s gutsy half-century.
