During the first T20I against Bangladesh, India wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant failed to make a good impression yet again. The 22-year-old failed to do justice with the bat and gloves, and that too in the absence of veteran wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni.
When the Men in Blue were defending a modest total of 149 in Delhi, Pant persuaded Rohit Sharma to take a DRS against Soumya Sarkar on the last ball of the 10th over. However, Yuzvendra Chahal who bowled that delivery looked unconvinced with Pant’s appeal.
But, the local boy was confident of a caught behind chance. Nevertheless, the reviews showed a line graph without any spikes as the ball went past the willow.
Earlier, Pant had failed to notice a DRS chance against Mushfiqur Rahim, who was caught leg before wicket in the same over.
Pant’s DRS howlers cost India the match as Mushfiqur went on to play a match-winning knock of 60 runs off 43 balls and propelled Bangladesh to their first-ever win over India in T20Is.
Meanwhile, India fans were heard chanting Dhoni’s name throughout the game, and especially when India got their DRS calls wrong.
