Cricketing world paid tribute to the former Australia batsman Phillip H🎀ughes on the eve of the five-year anniversary of his death af𒁏ter he was felled by a short-pitched delivery in a domestic first-class match.
Hughes died at the age of ꦿ25 after being s𓆏truck by a bouncer while batting for South Australia in a Sheffield Shield match on November 25, 2014, against New South Wales at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
He was wearing a helmet, but the ball struck him at an unprotected area just below his left ear. Hughes sustained a brain hemorrhage and died two days later without regaining consciousness at a nearby ho꧑spital.
Hughes played 25 Test matches and 24 one-day internationals for Australia. ﷽He also spent several years playing county cricket in England.
Former Australian captain Michael Clarke took to Instagram to remember one of his closest friends, saying: “Everyday I think of you, but this week more than ever. Wish you were here buddy.”
Forever in our hearts.
