Left-handed opener Dean Elgar played a blistering knock of 160 runs, and wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock well-supported him with a 111-run innings before Ravichandran Ashwin’s five-wicket haul restrict South Africa to 385 for eight in their first innings at the end of the third day’s play of the Vizag Test on Friday.
At the end of the day’s play, the visitors reduced their first-innings gap to 117 runs, with Senuran Muthusamy (12) and Keshav Maharaj (3) batting at the crease.

5 for Ashwin! This one is a hard-earned one. On a deck that is slow and has not done too much. Well bowled.

A stat for all the cricket fans out there.
Since his debut in 2011, Ravichandran Ashwin has taken 71 wickets with the new ball.
He's done it with a better average (23.1) than Stuart Broad (107 @ 25.9) and James Anderson (106 @ 23.9)

The Elgar de Kock partnership was brilliant to see. Real real fight. But India still hold the aces with the two wickets and South Africa bat last.
