The Hundred: Rules, teams and picked players

The Hundred, England’s new eight-team city-based competition, was launched on Wednesday (October 3), with several details about the tournament confirmed.

Every game wꦬill have two innings of 1ไ00 deliveries each (the clue is in the name).

There will be a change of end after ten balls, rather t𓂃han the usual six. Bowlers can send down five or ten consecutive balls, while they are limited to 20 in the match. As for the PowerPlay, that will span 25 deliveries, and a maximum of two fielders ♏will be allowed outside the inner circle during that period of play.

Although the main draft will take place on October 20, each of the eight teams have chosen some players already. The men’s teams announced one England central contract pick each, although it remains to be seen how many games they will play – as well as two Local Icon players. The women’s teams announced two England central contract picks.

The inaugural 100-ball competition 💃will🔯 take place from July 17 to August 16 next year.
