Former India batsman Yuvraj Singh was on Thursday named Maratha Arabians’ icon player for the upcoming Abu Dhabi T10 tournament. This will be Yuvi’s second appearance in a franchise-based competition since his retirement from international cricket in June this year.
The T10 lea♌gue, beginning November 14, has 🍎the approval of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Yuvraj play𝔍ed starring roles for India in its World Cup-winning campaigns in 2007 and 2011.
One of the reasons the left-handed bid farewell to international cricket was that he wanted to play in leagues around the world and have “some fun”. At the moment, the BCCI doesn’t allow any active player to feature in a foreign league.
Following his retirement, Yuvraj had captained Toronto Nationals in the Glo𝄹bal T20 Canada in July-August.
The 37-year-old Singh is the latest signing by Maratha Arabians after they recently named former Zimbabwe captain Andy Flower as their head cꦆoac𝕴h.
Former West Indies skipper Dwayne Bravo will continue to lead the Arabians like in the previous edition. The franchise has also named their ot൲her retentions for the u𝓡pcoming edition including Sri Lanka T20I captain Lasith Malinga, apart from the Afghanistan duo of Hazratullah Zazai and Najeebullah Zadran.
