MS Dhoni’s future has been one of the most talked-about topics in Indian cricket, especially there has been little coming through since he took a break from the game.
Sourav Ganguly, who took charge as the President of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday, acknowledged Dhoni’s contribution to the Indian cricket.
Speaking to the reporters in Mumbai, Ganguly said he doesn’t know what is in Dhoni’s mind but promised that a player of his stature will be accorded respect.
“You know champions don’t finish quickly. I don’t know what’s in his mind and what he thinks about his career. So we will deal with that you know,” Ganguly said. “He is one of the greats of the game and India is proud to have MS Dhoni over a period of time. If you even sit down and take a note of what he has done, you say, ‘Wow, MS Dhoni’,” the former India skipper added.
Legends of the game have🦩 often had an unc🦋eremonious exit and Ganguly himself knows it more than anyone else how it feels to fight media speculations and criticism of fans and experts.
“Till I am around, everybody will be respected and that doesn’t change,” Ganguly said in a press conference.
Earlier, before taking the charge, Ganguly had said that he will speak to the selectors about Dhoni’s future and seek their opinion before giving his views during the meeting on October 24.
With India’s squad for the Bangladesh home series to be picked in Mumbai on October 24, it will be interesting to see if Dhoni will be named in the T20 squad or not.
