India completed a 3-0 series sweep against South Africa on Tues𒉰day to consolidate its lead in the ICC World Test Championship🅰, with Rohit Sharma providing the icing on the cake by successfully reinventing himself as a Test opener.
South Africa, who were made to follow on for the second straight Test in the series, managed to escape a defeat inside 💝three days on Monday, but their final two batsmen lasted for only two overs on Tuesday. The Proteas were bundled out for a paltry 133 in their second innings at Ranchi.
Bowling the second over on day four, India’s debutant spinner Shahbaz Nadeem dismissed Theunis de Bruyn and Lungi Ngidi in successive deliveries to seal India’s emphatic victory by an innings and 202 runs.
Ngidi’s bizarre dismissal
Actually, Ngidi looked aggressive against the left-arm spinner. He stepped out in order to send the flighted delivery bowled by Nadeem for a boundary. He hit it towards the non-striker’s end, but the ball hit on the shoulder of Anrich Nortje who was standing on the opposite end and the ball went into the air which was then caught by Shahbaz Nadeem.
