South Africa opener Dean Elgar suffered a concussion after being hit on the head b⭕y a nasty bouncer from the Indian pacer Umesh Yꦬadav on Day 3 of the third Test in Ranchi.
Yadav’s bouncer hit Elgar’s helmet in the second session of South Africa’s second innings. The incident also forced an early Tea break on the third day.
Theunis de Bruyn was named Elgar’s concussion substitute.

Umesh aimed a bouncer at Elgar, but the left-handed batsman completely took his eyes off the ball. It e𒀰ventually hit Elgar on his helmet, and the batsman immediately showed signs of discomfort.
He gradually went down on the ground, and the Indian players quick🐓ly came around to check him.
Earlier, South Africa was enforced upon a follow-on after they were bowled out on a paltry 162 in their first innings. In the second innings, the Proteas’ miseries continued as they lost five wickets for just 35 runs.
India declared their first innings at 497 for nin✤e on Day 2 of the match.
