Jasprit Bumrah, over the course of his international career, has turned out to be an absolute nightmare for batsmen around the world. After grilling hard in the limited-overs format for a couple of years, the 25-year-old Indian pacer made his Test debut against South Africa in January last year. Since then, he hasn’t looked back.
On Saturday, Bumrah picked up a hat-trick in the second Test against West Indies at the Sabina Park, Jamaica.
In the first Test at the💧 North Sound, Antigua, he dismantled the Windies batsmen with a five-wicket haul. Now in Jamaica, he carried over hi🅘s form from the last game.
Bumrah became the third Indian bowler after Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan to claim a Test hat-trick. Even as Harbhajan’s feat came back in 2001 against Australia, Irfan’s feat came way back in 2006 against Pakistan.
As far as Bumrah’s hat-trick is concerned, he dismissed Darren Bravo with a delivery that bounced and found the batsman’s outside edge. Then he trapped Shamarh Brooks in front of the wickets. Bumrah then removed Roston Chase to accomplish the record feat.
The Gujarat-born seamer picked up six wickets on Day 2 of the Test. The hosts’ batting unit had very little clue about the speedster’s deliveries.
Meanwhile, Yuvraj Singh, the former Indian all-rounder, isn’t surprised by Bumrah’s sensational spell of fast bowling.
Like many others, Yuvraj also congratulated Bumrah on Twitter and in his post wrote: “Congratulations @Jaspritbumrah93 on your hatrick’ someone like you totally deserves it! Rather I’m not surprised because your world no 1 and that’s how you show it.”
