On Friday (September 6), the world witnessed another mind-blowing bowling performance from Sri Lankan pacer Laꦑsith Malin🗹ga. During the last T20I match of the series against New Zealand at Pallekele, Malinga dismissed the top 4 Kiwi batsmen in 4 balls.
This was Malinga’s 5th international hat-trick as he surpasses Pakistan’s Wasim Akram (4 international hat-tricks). Earlier in 2007, Malinga picked four wickets in 4 balls in the ODI format.
Malinga dismissed New Zealand’s Colin Munro, Hamish Rutherford, Colin de Grandhomme, and Ross Taylor to achieve this feat. Malinga’s brilliant performance helped his team to beat the Kiwis by 37 runs.
“The secret to my bowling is not to complicate things much. Yorker was my best ball, I only try my best to bowl the right line and right length. Really happy that we won the match, I am a wicket-taking bowler when I play for Sri Lanka,” said Malinga during the post-match presentation.
