In the past, Afridi had tweeted over the situation in Kashmir, “Appalling and worrisome situation ongoing in the ‘Indian Occupied Kashmir’. Innocents being shot down by oppressive regime to clamp voice of self -determination, and independence. Wonder where are the UN and other international bodies and why aren’t they making efforts to stop this bloodshed?”.

Dhawan didn’t like Afridi’s tweet and revolted back with a message to the former Pakistan cricketer: “Pehle khudke desh ki haalat sudharo. Apni soch apne paas rakho. Apne desh ka joh hum kar rahe hai woh acha hi hai aur aage jo karna hai woh humein ache se pata hai. Zyaada dimaag mat lagao (Improve the state of affairs in your country first. Keep your views to yourself. Whatever we are doing in our country is good for us and we know what we will do in the future too. You do not need to worry about that).”
