Former legendary cricketers Brian Lara and Ramnaresh Sarwan wi♉ll guide the Windies batsmen ahead of the first two Test matches again﷽st India.
Lara is an all-time great, while Sarwan was a fa♏ntastic player of his generation from the Caribbean, who knew how to lead from the 💙front.
The two will be a part of the p🥂re-series camp, to 🥂be held in Antigua before the first Test match.
They will share theꦿir vast knowledge and exp🤪erience with the 13-member squad. Besides, the stalwarts of the game will also give some useful tips that will help the players to hone their skills.
West Indies and India will play the first Test from August 22 to August 26 at the Sir Vivian Ric🧜hards Cricket Ground in North Sound, Antigua. The second Test match will start from August 30 and end on September 3 at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica.
There will 💯be massive expectations from the likes of Shai Hope, Roston Chase, Shimron Hetmyer, John Campbell, Kraigg Brathwaite, and Darren Bravo.
The series will also mark the beginning of the ICC World Test Championship for both the t💃eams.
Jimmy Adams, Cricket West Indies’ (CWI) Director of Cricket, expressed his gratitude to Lara and Sarwan for making time to groom the young batsmen.
“We have some good young batsmen in the team who we believe will form the future of West Indies cricket. We saw some very good signs of development earlier this year in the Test matches when we played so very well to beat England and we want to see them grow and become outstanding players for the West Indies,” Adams said in a statement issued by the Windies.
“We have taken the step to have Brian and ‘Ronnie’ work with these players, who have demonstrated a will to learn and succeed. We know they still have the passion and love for West Indies cricket and are eager to assist and share their information with the present generation.”
Brian Lara, 50, is the pride of the Caribbean and the leading run꧋-getter for West Indies. He has notched up a total of 11,953 ru♒ns in 131 Test matches. His 400 not out against England in Antigua in the year 2004 will always be remembered worldwide as the only quadruple century in Test history.
Lara also holds the record of registering the highest first-class score of all time – 501 not out, which came while playing for Warwickshire in the English Country Championship.
Meanwhile, West Indies have faltered in the limited-overs format against Ind⛦ia, losing both the T20I and ODI series. They will look to turn things around and boun꧒ce back in the upcoming Test series.
